Lidl – Swansea
Dribuild were appointed to demolish the existing Lidl building and construct a new 2,200m2 GIFA food store.
The Morriston store’s design is the first of its kind in the UK and represents the latest in Lidl’s huge growth in the UK market over the last five years. Following ground remediation and vibro compaction following the demolition of the existing store, a steel superstructure with aluminium roofing and cladding has been installed to a concrete ground floor slab and strip foundations.
Internally, the store has been fitted out as per the Lidl brand standard, to include full ceramic tiling to floors, space heating and power infrastructure to service the sales area.
Externally, the new car park consists of both porous and non-porous paving fed into an on-site retention tank, complete with soft landscaping and new totem Lidl signage.
This was a 32 weeks programme and was handed over on time and within budget.
