Dribuild helps to give South Bristol Sports Centre a new lease of life.

Works have started on the South Bristol Sports Centre which burnt down in May 2018.  Phase 1 of the works include refurbishment of the main pavilion, including strip out works, new ceilings, flooring, lighting and decorations. The works will then continue to include reconfiguration of the 1st floor to accommodate a gymnasium, male, female and accessible changing and shower areas.

The fire was believed to have started in the sauna on the first floor at the rear to the sport centre central building. More than 50 firefighters rushed to the scene as around 40 people were evacuated. The blaze continued for 10 hours leaving the community distraught.  Since then, the centre has been working out of a cabin and marquee outside.

Matt Tyler, Dribuild Group Managing Director said: “We’re delighted to have started the works to give the sports centre a new lease of life.

“We know that the centre was an integral part of the community and that the past nine months have been difficult. We will continue to work with the community and teams on this project to get the sports centre up and running and the staff and customers back into their brand new enhanced building.”
